OYSTER & PEARL LOVERS TOUR FAQS
The Oyster & Pearl Lovers Tour is a 3 hour immersive experience, where guests are invited on a cruise of the Hawkesbury River, visiting our pearl oyster leases and our guides explain how we farm Akoya pearls. They will then be part of a pearl grading class, learning all about how we grade our precious gems and the history behind pearling in Australia. To finish, guests then have the opportunity to tase the delicious oysters of New South wales and watch an oyster shucking demonstration.
You will be on the water for approximately one hour. All other parts of the experience are land based and undercover.
Yes, the Oyster & Pearl Lovers Tour is suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a guardian.
We ask you to please arrive 15 minutes before your tour to check in and use bathroom facilities.
While we do have a canopy on our Farm Cruise vessel, the sides are open to elements including sea spray. We recommend bringing sun, wind and rain protection as well as a water bottle and camera to capture the incredible sights on your tour!
Your guided oyster tasting includes 3 oysters per person. Oyster type and provenance is subject to availability. When oysters from local waterways are not available, oysters may be sourced from another oyster farm. Oysters can be purchased by the dozen separately from this tour, and enjoyed at the Shellar Door or to takeaway subject on availability.
Yes, we offer a complimentary bus transfer from and to Hawkesbury River Station for the Oyster & Pearl Lovers Tour.
Our friendly team will pick you up in the pick up zone of the train station. Look out for a white Toyota HiAce minibus with our Broken Bay Pearl Farm logo.
