Accessible Amenities at the Shellar Door

Join us on the edge of the stunning Lower Hawkesbury River, and enjoy the tranquil environment of our Broken Bay Pearl Farm. Our Shellar Door team welcomes all guests to enjoy all that we have to offer in an accessible environment.

Dedicated Accessible Bathroom: Our wheel-chair friendly Shellar Door restroom is accessible via a concrete path, has an accessible toilet, including grab bars, and other amenities to ensure your comfort and safety.

Accessible Parking: Car parking is available at the Shellar Door, a space can be reserved on the day for you. This is a loose gravel surface, but you can alight onto the pavement entryway for most accessible entrance to the Shellar Door.

Accessible Tours at the Shellar Door

We offer supported mobility accessibility to our tours on land and water. 

Accessible pathways for tours: Between the Shellar Door and the pathway to our pontoon where the tour vessel is moored there is a 13.5 metre distance to travel over loose gravel. We have a carpet mat that is 68cm wide, this spans the distance running over the top of the loose gravel for easier accessibility. 

Boarding tour vessels: The vessel we take guests on to tour our farm leases has a gateway of 75cm width. The step up to board the vessel is 20cm high, we have a portable ramp that spans this distance. There is also a step up of 20cm onto the pontoon, we have a portable ramp that spans this distance. Broken Bay Pearl Farm staff will assist guests to board safely.

While we do not offer translation services, we have many experiences that are enjoyable and transcend language boundaries. We endeavor to make every persons stay at Broken Bay Pearl Farm a memorable one.

We do not currently offer a discount for carers, but we are open to discussing how we can accommodate the accessibility needs of you and your carer.

We welcome on service animals to stay in our picnic area.

We do have an entryway to our Shellar Door, and it is accessible via level concrete to accommodate all visitors and guests. 

Yes, we have seating available at the Shellar Door. 

At this stage, we unfortunately do not but we would be happy to assist with bookings, purchases, and whatever else you may need.

We collect all check-in detailed before arrival if your tour with us is pre-booked. 

If you do not have a booking, all details may be collected verbally. Therefore, you do not need to manually fill any details out. 

Definitely, we welcome all visitors and guests who are deaf or have low hearing. Our Broken Bay Pearl Farm team are committed to ensuring your time with us is not only memorable, but also comfortable and accommodating.

At this stage we do not have a tablet with text-to-voice capabilities. Our friendly Shellar Door team would be happy to provide you with pen and paper to assist with communication. 

At this stage we do not have a hearing loop fitted to the Shellar Door area.

At this stage we do not have pictures boards available as a communication aid. 

Unfortunately we do not have even and glare free lighting in the Shellar Door. As always, we are more than happy to assist as best we can, just let our friendly team know.
